About My Fitness Geek

What this site is, how its guides are written and checked, and the rules every page follows on health claims, evidence and recommendations.

My Fitness Geek started in 2003 as an online sports nutrition shop and later became a personal-training blog built around one question: what's my number? It continues as a numbers-first reference on training supplements and protein, with the doses the research used and the cautions that come with them.

How the guides are written

Every guide explains what a supplement, food or remedy is, what the research does and does not show, the amounts commonly studied, and who should avoid it. None of them claims that anything cures, treats or prevents a disease, quotes statistics that cannot be traced, or names a brand. Each page is checked against those rules before it is published.

Not medical advice

These guides are general information. They are not a substitute for a doctor, pharmacist or dietitian. Supplements can interact with medicines and are not suitable for everyone - talk to a professional before starting one, and never stop or change a prescribed medicine on the strength of anything you read here.
